An agronomic and energy assessment of the effectiveness of using nitrogen fertilizers in various soil treatment technologies for the cultivation of medium-ripened spring wheat varieties of domestic and foreign breeding in the steppe zone of Western Siberia in 2024-2025 was carried out. Spring soft wheat varieties are Silanty and Cornetto. Nitrogen fertilizers were used for near–sowing and non-root fertilization on two soil cultivation backgrounds: the first background was the treatment of PCHN–6 to a depth of 33 cm; the second background was direct sowing using No-Till technology. The yields of Silanty and Cornetto varieties in the control in the experiment were different: 2.98 and 3.36 t/ha, respectively. The highest yield was formed by the Cornetto variety with two doses of nitrogen fertilizers (N30+N30) after treatment with a deep freeze. Silanty variety - 21.53 kg after deep– drying treatment, and in general, in the experiment, near-sowing nitrogen application is the most energetically efficient (13.36-21.53 kg/kg, depending on the variety and processing background), and non-root top dressing is the least effective (6.25-10.50 kg/kg). The energy cost of creating 1 ton of grain ranged from 5,811 to 15,898 MJ, depending on the amount and method of fertilization, variety and tillage. On average, the energy costs per ton of the received increase were: seed application of 7243 MJ/t; foliar top dressing of 13363 MJ/t; double fertilization of 9740 MJ/t. Accordingly, it can be concluded that foliar top dressing turned out to be the least effective, and application together with sowing turned out to be the most effective. The Silanty variety used fertilizers more efficiently and the energy costs for obtaining an increase in a ton of yield from fertilizers were lower and amounted to 9,040 MJ/t, in contrast to 11,190 MJ/t for the Cornetto variety. Wheat used fertilizers more efficiently after treatment with a deep-freeze agent – 9819 MJ/t than in the No-Till variant - 10411 MJ/t.
