Despite the active development and achievements of science and practice in the field of veterinary dermatology, among small domestic animals, allergic dermatitis is a fairly significant problem for owners. Allergic skin diseases, accompanied by itching, reduce the quality of animal life and can lead to serious consequences. A prospective study conducted on 20 cats with clinical signs of allergic dermatitis (pruritus, erythema, alopecia) compared the effectiveness of various antipruritic drugs. The animals were divided into three experimental and one control groups (𝑛 = 5 in each). Therapy included the use of drugs from the groups of glucocorticoids (stop-itch, prednisolone), Janus kinase inhibitors (oclacitinib/apoquel) and antihistamines (cetirizine). Clinical effectiveness was assessed in points based on the dynamics of the itching intensity, erythema and alopecia area. Statistical analysis of the obtained data was carried out using Student's 𝑡-test for independent samples when comparing the average values of clinical blood test parameters of cats in the control and experimental groups, before and after treatment. Economic efficiency is justified by analyzing the costs of drugs and reducing economic losses from the disposal of animals from experimental groups. It has been established that the use of the drug Apoquel (oclacitinib), in the complex therapy of cats diagnosed with atopic and food allergic dermatitis, suppresses the key mechanisms of itching associated with allergies and eliminates the symptoms of local inflammation. Its use at a dose of 0.8-1.3 mg/kg orally 2 times a day for 14 days in a row, then once a day, contributed to the regression of edema and itching relief in 60% of cats at the beginning of taking the drug and the complete absence of itching and accompanying symptoms in 100% of animals at the end of taking the drug.
