The problem of modeling infravesical obstruction in experiments remains relevant due to the high prevalence of its clinical analogues in small domestic animals. Existing methods involving surgical intervention or implantation of foreign bodies are characterized by significant trauma, high risk of complications, and inability to precisely control the degree of obstruction, which limits their application. The aim of this study was to develop and morphologically verify a minimally invasive method for creating a model of partial urethral obstruction in male small laboratory animals using a hyaluronic acid-based biocompatible filler. The study was conducted on 10 sexually mature male California rabbits divided into control (n = 5) and experimental (n = 5) groups. Animals in the experimental group underwent a paraurethral injection of 0.3 ml of sterile hyaluronic acid-based filler into the submucosal layer of the distal urethra, 15 mm from the external orifice, under local anesthesia with 10% lidocaine. Twenty-eight days after obstruction modeling, the animals were euthanized in accordance with bioethical standards. Subsequent necropsy involved sampling fragments of the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra for histological examination. Histological analysis in the experimental group revealed a complex of morphological changes confirming the development of stable partial obstruction. The urethra showed filler deposits surrounded by a zone of connective tissue disintegration, dystrophy and necrobiosis of smooth muscle cells, mononuclear inflammatory infiltration, and interstitial edema. The urinary bladder exhibited diffuse lymphoplasmacytic infiltration and edema of all wall layers. The kidneys and ureters showed dystrophic changes corresponding to an ascending obstructive process. The proposed method is effective for modeling partial urethral obstruction. Its advantages include minimal invasiveness, the possibility of dosecontrolled obstruction, short procedure duration under local anesthesia, no need for postoperative care, and minimal risk of complications due to the biocompatibility of hyaluronic acid. The developed model holds promise for use in experimental urology, pharmacology, and morphology.
