In the landscaping of cities and towns, when creating landscape compositions, an important role is given to the floral design of territories, using wintering rhizomatous perennials, in particular, Bearded Iris. Biological features, morphology, winter hardiness and decorative properties of 11 varieties and forms of this plant were studied. The research was carried out in 2015-2019 in the Botanical Garden of the Omsk State Agrarian University located in the southern forest-steppe of the Omsk region. The purpose of the research is to identify the most decorative varieties and forms of the bearded iris to include them in landscape compositions when landscaping cities and towns of Western Siberia. The research revealed that under these conditions, the regrowth of the bearded iris in spring begins in the first or second decade of April, the beginning of flowering is in the third decade of May-the first half of June. The duration of flowering averages 8-11 days, in some years in tall varieties Brazil, Golden Orpheus, Exotic blue and violet high form lasts up to 14 days. Yellow (97.1%, or 4.8 points) differed in increased winter hardiness from low-growing forms, the lilac-purple control form (94%, or 4.6 points) stands out from medium-growing forms, and from tall-growing forms the Golden Orpheus variety is the most winter-hardy (93.8% or 4.4 points). Brazil and Exotic blue varieties have the largest flowers: the flower diameter averages 16.4-16.5 cm, height is 12.4-13.5 cm. Blue-violet variety (from low-growing forms of iris), lilac-purple (from medium-grown varieties) and varieties Brazil and Exotic blue (among tall-growing forms) have the increased decorativeness (92-100 points) and are considered the most promising for landscaping.
