JUSTIFICATION OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF BILATERAL PERINEAL HERNIA IN DOGS
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
A new technique of surgical treatment of bilateral perineal hernia in dogs has been developed. This technique ensures minimization of surgical trauma, a favorable course of the postoperative period and reduces the likelihood of postoperative complications and relapses. Minimally invasive approaches to close extensive hernia defects have been identified. The objects for research were animals belonging to private owners of the city of Omsk. The diagnostic search was aimed at a thorough examination of the animals to exclude concomitant pathologies. To exclude pathology from the abdominal organs, an overview radiography and abdominal ultrasound were performed. The operative access used in the proposed method in the form of two parallel incisions provides the possibility of unhindered carrying out the entire complex of surgical manipulations and the possibility of surgical treatment of perineal hernias at various stages of their pathogenetic development. It is relatively simple in technical implementation and significantly expands the arsenal of surgical techniques used in the treatment of this pathology. The use of the proposed method is advisable in the treatment of extensive, bilateral perineal hernias in dogs at the final stages of pathogenetic development with pronounced degenerative and destructive changes in the anatomical elements forming the bottom of the perineum. This method of treating bilateral perineal hernia in dogs is available to specialists of average qualification and can be used in veterinary clinics not equipped with special equipment. The research results largely complement the previously developed methods.
