STRUCTURAL AND ADAPTIVE FEATURES OF REPRODUCTION IN MALES OF PREDATORY FUR ANIMALS DEPENDING ON THE SEASON
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
Fur-bearing animals such as foxes, Arctic foxes, mink, and sables are of high value to the fur industry, which requires effective control of their breeding and maintenance. This article examines the structural and adaptive characteristics of the reproductive organs of fur male animals adapted to seasonal changes and extreme climatic conditions. The study analyzes mechanisms of scrotal thermoregulation that ensure optimal temperatures for spermatogenesis, seasonal involution of the testes, and the structure and function of the epididymis, vas deferens, and baculum-equipped penis. These adaptations allow fur-bearing animals to maintain high fertility despite harsh environmental conditions and influence mating strategies adapted to limited breeding seasons. The results obtained have practical significance for improving methods of breeding and maintaining fur-bearing animals on farms, thereby enhancing reproductive efficiency.
