The current geopolitical situation has made serious adjustments in all areas of the Russian Federation's production activities. The quality problems of tires for wheeled agricultural machinery operating in extreme operating conditions, often with vehicle overloading during seasonal work, remain relevant for the modern tire industry today. One of the main reasons for premature wear of agricultural tires is the detachment of the threads of the carcass cord and the rupture of the side zone. In order to improve the quality of the diagonal design tires and strengthen its side area, research was carried out on the use of scrap metal cord as a reinforcing material. The article describes the technological process of tire assembly using scrap metal cord to structure and increase the strength of the side zone of the pneumatic tire of agricultural machinery. Based on laboratory and production tests, it was found that waste metal cord grade 9L30NT, integrated as additional reinforcing layers into the side of the tire, can significantly increase the strength characteristics of agricultural tires. In particular, the average breaking load of a metal cord with vulcanized rubber was 862 N, which is a significant increase for the side zone compared to a textile cord by 77.4%.
