The article presents an analysis of land use and an assessment of the environmental status of agricultural land in the Moskalensky municipal district of the Omsk Region, and develops proposals for improving the efficiency of their use and restoring soil fertility. The main territory of the district is occupied by agricultural lands; disturbances to natural structures have been noted, necessitating various stabilization measures. The soil cover is represented mainly by ordinary chernozem (about 40%), which has a heavy granulometric composition. Low-fertility soils, unsuitable for or with limited use in agriculture, are widespread. Analysis of landscape formation stages revealed a predominance of the transitional stage of development (more than 42% of the arable land area), with approximately 40% of arable land in the developing landscape stage and less than 18% in the intensively developing landscape stage. Four ecological and economic zones have been identified, differing in the degree of suitability for agricultural use, as well as in the land use regime. 103.74 thousand hectares of land are suitable for intensive use without restrictions, 51.27 thousand hectares are of limited suitability for arable land and forage lands, 31.05 thousand hectares need improvement, cultivation or change in the nature of use (high environmental stress), 1.57 thousand hectares are subject to conservation (critical stress). A number of recommendations have been proposed for the potential restoration and improvement of agricultural land properties to improve the environmental situation in the district. These findings should be considered when developing solutions to optimize agricultural land use.
