This article presents tests of water-fuel emulsions (WFE) obtained by the method of injection of a dispersed phase into a medium. The experimental research program consisted of the following stages: determination of the patterns of change in the kinematic viscosity and density of the studied samples depending on the temperature and water content in the WFE; determination of the surface tension of the studied WFE samples; determination of WFE stability. According to the data of experimental studies, the following were obtained: graphs of the dependence of the WFE dynamic viscosity on the water content α and the temperature of the emulsion t; the influence of settling time and particle diameter on WFE separation: at atomizer diameter 1 mm; 1.5 mm; 2 mm; 2.5 mm; settling of water in WFE prepared with atomizer diameter of 1 mm, emulsification pressure of 2 MPa, temperature of 20°C. On the basis of experimental studies, the following features were revealed in the preparation of WFE by the injection method: with an increase in the diameter of the atomizer, at a constant injection pressure, the size of water droplets in the emulsion increases; with an increase in injection pressure, at a constant diameter of the atomizer, there is a decrease in the size of water droplets in the emulsion; with a decrease in particle size at a given percentage of water in the WFE, the intensity of emulsion separation decreases; with an increase in the percentage of water in the WFE, the stability of the emulsion decreases; WFE obtained by injection, without emulsifiers, should be used within the next 2-3 hours after preparation. The purpose of this work is to study the stability of the WFE obtained by injecting water into diesel fuel.
